My personal commitment to honesty, integrity and the ability to disagree without damaging the relationship.
Personal philosophy
Compromise is often part of life. Silence about what matters is a choice.
I am keen to work with people whose views and values are realistic, open to new ideas and able to withstand respectful disagreement. Life requires compromise, but compromise completed in silence can become a surrender of honesty and moral truth.
My aim is to be transparent, dependable and aligned with people and organisations that value mutual respect—bringing experience and skill while remaining true to myself and those around me.
“You compromise, you are compromised” if done in silence.
What makes me happy
Challenge creates room to think.
Although I may appear to live on my own terms, that has not always been so. Reflection has taught me to spend more time doing what makes me happy and to choose challenges that bring my mind and body into the same moment.
A close friend once asked me to join a 600-kilometre mountain-bike ride from Kalgoorlie to Perth—before I even owned a bike. The route followed Western Australia’s Golden Pipeline through towns where I had grown up.
Riding became a way for me to reconnect, accept a physical challenge and create the mental space in which my thinking becomes clear.

Kayaking
Learning to ocean kayak safely presents a different coordination challenge: mind, body and kayak working together. Time on the water gives me physical effort, solitude and a way to reset my mind.

Reading
I am an avid reader and consider myself a critical thinker. Philosophy, human behaviour and the future of society are recurring interests.
My earlier reading notes reference Ayn Rand, Yuval Noah Harari and Jordan Peterson as thinkers whose work prompted reflection and further questions.
Responsibility
The unchallenged opinion is not worth pursuing.
I see responsibility as the obligation to examine the opinions we are asked to believe and decide whether they are worthy. Better examination can lead to better opinions, decisions and outcomes.
This interest developed into the Opinion Project and the Socratic Practice Network: my attempts to create respectful environments in which people can listen, question and improve how they think together.
